Weird Space Ship

This is one of the first 3D models I made, it's some kind of a weird fighter space plane (I probably should have let the gun turret off). It was originally created in Rhino 3D beta in November of 1997, and the final render was done in POVRay.

Romulan Bird of Prey

This is modeled after a Romulan Bird of Prey from the original series of Star Trek. It is one of the first 3D models I've made, created just after the space plane above. Originally created in November 1997, I put the final touches in POVRay in August 1998. The model (and much of the scene) was created in Rhino3D beta, and then exported to POVRay 3.02 for rendering and some cleanup work. The star background was created by a program of my own design, maybe one day I'll clean up the UI and release it for public use.

Helicopter

This attack helicopter was created in Rhino3D beta, and the final touches were added in POVRay 3.02. It was originally created in December 1997, I did the final render in POVRay in August 1998 so I would have more images to put up on this site. Some of my classmates thought I should convert it to a submarine, because it didn't look much like a helicopter.... I think this was my third attempt at 3D modeling

Christmas Trees

This is a scene I built for Christmas of 1997 and put it up on a private page on my server as a kind of Christmas card to my friends. Here it is for everyone to see. It was modeled and rendered completely in Rhino3D beta.

Reactor

This is a reactor done in the Descent style (Descent is a video game for those who are unfamiliar with the name). I apologize for the quality of the render, it was created in the demo version of Truespace 2, and I have yet to find a way to render it in another program without major re-texturing work. Created in December, this was the first scene I built in Truespace 2, it was also the last.

Ship at Sea

Not a 3D render but a computerized enhancement of a photo I took in the evening at Westport, Washington. The original sky was grey with no trace of red at all, and the waves were rather plain. I used Paint Shop Pro to modify the hue map of the sky and to adjust the highlights and shadows of the waves. The resulting image isn't exactly photo quality, but I thought it looked nice enough to frame.

Snowman

My creation for Christmas 1998. The foreground work was designed and rendered in Rhino 3D. The sky was added in using Paint Shop Pro 5.0's layering (one layer behind the trees, one layer in front of the trees). The stars themselves were, again, created by a program I wrote with a minor alteration that allowed for a colored sky - in this case dark blue. The trees were downloaded from one of the sites listed on my links page, they're a little sparse but I think that works here.
